KTW - DongSan Flintlock
Dongsan KTW: the George Washington’s flintock pistol.
Questa volta scrivo di una airsoft gun del tutto particolare: una riproduzione funzionante a molla di una fra le più famose armi storiche degli Stati Uniti d’America: una pistola ad avancarica con meccanismo ad acciarino, facente nell’originale parte di una coppia appartenuta al primo presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America: George Washington.
This time I write about a very special airsoft gun: a spring working reproduction of one of the most famous United States of America historical weapons: a muzzle-loading flintlock pistol, the original making one of a pair belonged to the first president of the United States of America: George Washington.
The flintlock guns
Il meccanismo ad acciarino sembra sia comparso, nelle sue prime versioni, attorno al 1570, e sicuramente è stato universalmente impiegato in campo militare e civile almeno sino alla metà del XIX secolo, sino alla comparsa del meccanismo a luminello, e quindi della munizione a bossolo metallico.
Tali armi continuano tuttora ad essere prodotte ed utilizzate in campo sportivo ed amatoriale (ed in questo campo l’Italia vanta una riconosciuta supremazia), per il fascino che ancora emana il loro funzionamento.
The flintlock mechanism seems to appear in its first version around 1570, and certainly has been universally used in military and civil, at least until the mid-nineteenth century, until the appearance of the cap firing weapons, and then to the metal cartridge ammunition.
These weapons are continuing to be produced and used in sports and by amateur (and in this field Italy has an acknowledged supremacy), for the charm that still exudes their operation.

Prima di caricare, il cane viene portato in posizione di sicurezza, a mezza monta.
Il caricamento inizia col versare nella canna la giusta dose di polvere nera, e quindi introdurvi la pallottola avvolta da una pezzuola, che serve sia a garantire la tenuta di gas, che a impedirne l’uscita dalla canna per i movimenti e gli scossoni.
Before loading, the hammer it is brought to a safe position at half-cock. Loading begins by filling the barrel with the right amount of black powder, and then inserting the bullet wrapped in a patch, which serves both to ensure the gas keeping, as like as to prevent their exit from the barrel for movement and jarring.
La carica è poi compressa con una bacchetta calcatoio.
Viene quindi alzata la batteria, e versata nello scodellino altra polvere nera quale innesco. La batteria è quindi richiusa, proteggendo il polverino d’innesco.
Infine, il cane viene armato, e l’arma è pronto al tiro.
The charge is then compressed with a rammer rod. It is then raised the frizzen, and poured another black powder in the cup in the as a primer. The frizzen it is then again closed, protecting the priming powder. Finally, the hammer it is cocked, and the firearm is ready to fire.
Premendo il grilletto, il cane ruota, sino a che la pietra focaia stretta fra le sue ganasce non colpisce la batteria, facendola ruotare e contemporaneamente incendiando l’innesco con le scintille che scaturiscono dall’impatto.
La fiammata, tramite un foro, giunge alla carica nella canna, provocandone l’esplosione, e finalmente il colpo parte.
Pulling the trigger, the hammer rotates, until the flint caught between its jaws does not affect the frizzen, turning it and at the meantime firing the powder inside the pan with the sparks resulting from the impact. Through a hole the blaze reaches the charge in the barrel, causing the explosion, and finally the shot.
Salvi rari casi, rapidità di tiro, cadenza e precisione non erano le doti primarie di queste armi; la portata effettiva di un fucile ordinario non raggiungeva i cento metri.
Per le pistole si parlava al massimo di una ventina (ma più spesso era valida la metà), e quindi erano considerate un supporto alla spada. Data la materiale impossibilità di ricarica nel corso d’una mischia, erano una sorta di ultima chance, e sparato il colpo, si trasformavano in mazze (questa una delle ragioni perché avessero il fondo dell’impugnatura rinforzato da un elemento metallico, la coccia).
Sempre con rare eccezioni, le pistole di questo genere erano prive di mire.
Except in rare cases, rapid firing, rate of fire, and precision were not the primary qualities of these weapons. Mind that the effective range of an ordinary rifle did not reach the hundred meters. For pistols you talked to a maximum of twenty (but more often it was good half), and then it were considered a support to the sword.
Given the physical impossibility of charging in the course of a melee, these were someway a last chance, and fired the shot, were turned into clubs (one of the reasons why they had reinforced the base of the grip of a metallic element, the buttcap) . Still, with rare exceptions, the guns of this kind had no sights.
George Washington’s pair
George Washington, nato a Bridges Creek il 22 febbraio 1732, e morto nella sua proprietà di Mount Vernon il 14 dicembre 1799, primo presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America, era un gentiluomo coloniale di famiglia benestante; grazie alle sue doti, come all’amicizia di famiglie influenti e ad un buon matrimonio, si elevò nella società dell’epoca.
George Washington, born at Bridges Creek on February 22, 1732, and died on his estate at Mount Vernon on December 14, 1799, the first president of the United States of America, it was a colonial gentleman from a wealthy family, that thanks to his skills, like also friendship of influential families and a good marriage, it was raised in the society of the time.
Ebbe esperienze militari di rilievo nelle guerre di frontiera con la Francia, dove, pur con alterna fortuna, dimostrò elevate capacità militari.
Per questo, e per il suo sentimento di americanità, fu posto in capo all’esercito rivoluzionario quando le colonie proclamarono la loro indipendenza dalla Gran Bretagna.
Portata vittoriosamente a termine una guerra iniziata con ben poche possibilità di successo, fu proclamato primo presidente della neonata nazione.
He had military experience in the major wars of the French border, where, though with varying fortune, showed high military capabilities. For this reason, and for his sense of being an American, was placed at the head of the revolutionary army when the colonies declared their independence from Britain. Leading a victorious war that started with very little chance of success, it was hailed as the first President of the newborn Nation.

Beyond these brief biographical notes (for those who wish to learn, here is the link to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Washington) George Washington, for his military experience could easily appreciate the value of a good fire weapon, and he liked very much to receive as a gift in 1778 by Thomas Turner, a pair of holster pistols made in 1748 in London.
Le armi lo seguirono nel prosieguo della guerra di indipendenza statunitense, e rimasero in sua proprietà sino al 1799, quando, poco prima della morte, ne fece dono al suo segretario e congiunto, Bartholomew Dandridge.
Pochi anni dopo, anche costui morì senza lasciare eredi, ed i suoi beni furono venduti all’asta.
Le due armi furono acquistate per una somma irrisoria dal colonnello Philip Marsteller, veterano della rivoluzione, nella cui famiglia rimasero sino al 1902, quando, in seguito ad una lite legale, furono messe all’asta.
Divenute un ambito oggetto da collezione, passarono in diverse collezioni, sino a che Clendennin Ryan, nel 1952, non le donò al Museo dell’Accademia Militare di West Point, ove sono oggi conservate quale tesoro nazionale.
The guns followed him later in the war of American independence, and remained in its property until 1799, when, shortly before his death, he gave it to his secretary and joint Bartholomew Dandridge. A few years later, Dandridge too died without leaving heirs, and its assets were sold at auction. The two weapons were purchased for a paltry sum by Colonel Philip Marsteller, a veteran of the revolution, in whose family it remained until 1902 when, following a legal dispute, were auctioned. La cartella reca il marchio dell’armaiolo londinese John Hawkins, mentre la canna porta quello del suo collega Richard Wilson; due fra i più apprezzati armieri dell’epoca, fra l’altro molto attivi anche nella produzione per le colonie.
The lockplate bears the marks of the London gunmaker John Hawkins, while the barrel sports the ones of its colleague Richard Wilson, two of the most respected gunsmiths of the time, among other things, also very active in the production for the colonies.
I fornimenti sono in argento, riccamente lavorati con motivi ornamentali di natura marziale nella controcartella, ed a grottesco nel dorso e pomo del calcio.
Le armi sono dotate della bacchetta di caricamento, tenuta in un apposito alloggiamento posto inferiormente alla canna.
The hilts are made of silver, richly worked with martial ornaments on the side plate, as like as grotesque on the remaining inlays. The weapons it is equipped with the ramrod, which was held in a special housing under the barrel.
È certo che Washington le abbia portate con se durante la guerra, tenendole pronte al bisogno in due fonde da sella, come era allora costume fare, e contando molto di più sulla spada appesa al suo fianco.
Sembra inoltre che gli siano state anche prima rubate e poi restituite contro ricompensa.
It is certain that Washington has brought the pair with him during the war, keeping them ready as needed in two saddle holsters, as was then the custom to do so, and relying more on the sword hanging at its side. It also seems that even it have been stolen and then returned for a reward.
La replica di Dongsan KTW - The Dongsan KTW replica
Il marchio coreano Dongsan KTW non è distribuito, e neppure molto conosciuto in Italia; il suo catalogo comprende un limitato numero di prodotti, perlopiù costituiti da repliche a molla di soggetti inconsueti, come il Winchester M1873 o lo sniper M70.
Alla fine dello scorso anno sono apparse le prime indiscrezioni su un suo nuovo modello, una replica della pistola ad avancarica appartenuta a Gorge Washington.
The Korean brand Dongsan KTW is not distributed, and even not well known in Italy, and its catalog includes a limited number of products, primarily consisting of springer ASG unusual subjects, such as the Winchester M1873 or M70 sniper.
At the end of last year it appeared the first rumors about a new model, a replica of the muzzleloading handgun belonged to George Washington.
Si trattava di una sfida non da poco: tecnicamente il problema era di garantire una potenza accettabile pur con la sola rotazione del cane, e di riuscire in qualche modo a trasmettere le sensazioni tutte particolari del tiro ad avancarica, ed esteticamente doveva essere resa una singola e particolare arma, che per milioni di persone è un’icona della propria storia nazionale.
Alla Dongsan non si sono tirati indietro, ed il risultato è presentato in queste righe.
It was not a simple challenge: technically, the problem was to ensure acceptable power even with the hammer rotation, and somehow managed to convey the particular feelings of muzzle loading shot, and aesthetically it had to be made a single and particular weapon, which for millions people it is an icon of its national history. Dongsan not to have pulled back, and the result is presented in these lines.
La replica è fornita entro una scatola di cartone, su cui esternamente vi è una foto del modello, con qualche riga di presentazione del soggetto rappresentato.
Sollevato il coperchio, su trova, adagiata su del tessuto rosso che simula il velluto, la flintlock, assieme ad un manuale, un tappo rosso, ed una chiave Brugola per regolare l’hop up.
Il manuale, che presenta anche la traduzione inglese, è completo e corredato da una buona serie di disegni. Oltre al modo d’uso, vi sono descritti gli interventi per rimediare ad alcuni inconvenienti, come la disincronizzazione del gearbox.
The replica is provided in a cardboard box, on which externally there is a picture of the model, with a few lines of presentation about the subject. Lifted the lid, there is, situated on a red fabric that simulates velvet, the flintlock, along with a manual, a red cap, and an Allen wrench to adjust the hop up. The manual also presents the English translation. It is complete and accompanied by a good set of drawings. In addition to the usage mode, there are descriptions of the interventions to overcome some drawbacks, as will be the gearbox override.
Il modello è realizzato in plastica e metallo.
Esternamente, la plastica è utilizzata per simulare il legno, mentre la canna esterna e gli ornamenti sono tutti in metallo.
The model is made of plastic and metal. Externally, the plastic is used to simulate wood, while the outer barrel and the ornaments are all made by metal.
La finitura del metallo è lucida e simula in modo molto bello l’usura del tempo.
I segni degli estrattori sono presenti, ma ben dislocati in parti interne non visibili.
La cassa in legno è riprodotta da due gusci in polimero, di colore marrone scuro, con una linea di giunzione non sempre perfetta. L’aspetto è abbastanza realistico, anche se in modo nettamente inferiore alle rimanenti parti in metallo.
The metal finish it is shiny and beautiful it simulates the wear of time. The signs of the extractors are present, but well-located in the internal parts, and are not visible. The wooden case is played by two dark brown polymer made shells, with a seam that it is not always perfect. It looks pretty realistic, albeit remaining well below the metal parts.
Le parti ornamentali, la cartella e la controcartella sono fissate con viti, tutte correttamente con la testa a taglio.
La costruzione è molto solida, senza cedimenti o flessioni. L’unico gioco presente è quello della batteria, quando la replica non è pronta al tiro.
The ornamental parts and the plates are secured with screws, all properly with his head cut. The construction is very solid, without sagging or bending. The only little wobble it is given by the frizzen, when the replica is not ready to fire.
Prima di passare ai dettagli, devo dire che queste armi di George Washington sono molto note, e riprodotte in quantità, ma, almeno dove ho potuto cercare, quasi per nulla documentate da immagini e dati sugli originali.
Before we go into detail, I must say that these George Washington’s weapons are well known, and reproduced in quantity, but, at least where I could find, almost no documented by images and data about the original.
Pesata, la nostra riproduzione di pistola sta a 731 grammi, ha una lunghezza di 363 mm, una altezza di 140 ed uno spessore massimo di 55.
Weighing, our gun reproduction it is 731 grams, it has a length of 363 mm, a height of 140 and a maximum thickness of 55.
Una prima evidente differenza rispetto all’originale è data dalla canna, in cui è simulato l’acciaio anziché l’ottone originale; la Dongsan dovrebbe avere in catalogo una seconda versione del modello con la corretta finitura.
A first obvious difference from the original it is out of the barrel, in which the steel is simulated instead of the original brass; it should be in the catalog Dongsan a second version of the model, with the correct finish.
Passando ai marchi, sulla cartella sono presenti:
- il cognome Hawkins, che individua in John Hawkins l’autore dell’arma finita
- la sigla ASGK, che individua la gilda giapponese dei costruttori di ASG, cui evidentemente la Dongsan appartiene, e che è un necessario anacronismo.
Sul dorso dell’impugnatura è presente una bandella, con su inciso il nome del proprietario Gnl G Washington (General George Washington).
Turning to the markings, on the plate there are:
- The surname Hawkins, identifying in John Hawkins the author of the gun over
- The symbol ASGK, which identifies the Japanese ASG manufacturers guild, to which evidently belongs Dongsan, representing a necessary anachronism.
On the back of the grip there is a strip, with the owner's name engraved on: Gnl G Washington (General George Washington).
La canna presenta la scritta London compresa fra due ornati, la sigla RV, e la riproduzione dei due punzoni che dal 1713 testimoniavano la prova della canna e quella dell’arma a Londra. La canna dell’originale ha la sigla RW, per Richard Wilson, che la costruì (in genere queste armi, anche se firmate dall’assemblatore, erano opera di almeno cinque o sei distinte botteghe, ognuna specializzata in un componente).
The barrel bears the word London between two ornaments, the initials VR, and reproduction of the two punches that from 1713 testified the gun and barrel trials that in London.
The original barrel has the initials RW, Richard Wilson, who built it (usually these weapons, even if signed only by the assembler, were the work of at least five or six different shops, each specializing in a component).
Interessanti sono anche i fornimenti, che hanno ornamenti di ispirazione sia marziale che artistica.
La controcartella è lavorata a bassorilievo e traforata, e presenta un trofeo di bandiere, tamburi e cannoni, assieme ai simboli britannici del leone e dell’unicorno.
La coccia è incisa a presentare un mascherone grottesco (Washington scrisse che somigliava al muso di un cane).
Le restanti parti sono lavorate a bassorilievo, con elementi ornamentali astratti.
Il grilletto termina in un ricciolo, ed è una delle poche parti a mostrare il segno di giunzione fra gli stampi.
Interesting are also the hilts provided, which are inspired by martial and artistic ornaments. The side plate it is sculptured in low relief and perforated, and has a trophy of flags, drums and guns, along with British symbols of the lion and unicorn. The handle butt it is carved to produce a grotesque mask (Washington wrote that resembled the nose of a dog). The remaining parts are processed in low relief, with abstract decorative elements. The trigger terminates in a curl, and is one of the few ASG parts to show signs of junction between the molds.
Il meccanismo è ben riprodotto.
Il cane è massiccio, e fra le ganasce serra una finta pietra focaia, tenuta da uno spessore in pelle; nella replica, serve da ammortizzatore durante il funzionamento, che descrivo più avanti.
Anche la batteria è molto robusta, mentre mancano lo scodellino ed il focone.
The mechanism it is well reproduced. The hammer it is massive, and between the jaws it clasps a fake flint These, held by a thick skin, in this replica it serves as a shock absorber during operation, which I describe below. Even the frizzen is very robust, while lacking the pan cavity and firing hole.
La bacchetta di caricamento in ottone, con testa in legno, è ben simulata, anche se qui svolge la funzione di serbatoio per i pallini.
Nella parte anteriore della cassa sono visibili due perni passanti che trattengono la canna: anche questi erano presenti nell’arma vera.
The brass ramrod, with wooden head, it is well simulated, although here acts as a magazine for the BB’s.
In the stock front there are visible through two passing-thru pins that holds the barrel: these too were int the real gun.
Nell’assieme, la replica è molto bella, e a mio avviso rende il dovuto onore all’originale.
Altogether, the replica it is very nice, and in my view it gives the due honour to the original.
Prima di parlare della meccanica, scrivo solo due parole sulla scomposizione.
La casa produttrice fornisce le istruzioni per la scomposizione di base, e tuttavia sconsiglio questa operazione, salvo la rimozione dell’outer barrel, per non rischiare di disincronizzare o danneggiare il meccanismo.
Before talking about the mechanics, I write only two words on the disassembling. The manufacturer provides instructions for the basic disassembly, and yet I will do not recommend this, unless the removal dell'outer barrel, for it risk to override or damaging the mechanism.
I progettisti della Dongsan, per riuscire ad arretrare a sufficienza il pistone, hanno creato ex novo un gearbox a quattro ingranaggi, che moltiplica e trasferisce la rotazione del cane.
Un meccanismo separato, azionato dalla batteria, porta un BB alla volta in canna.
Il serbatoio tubolare dei BB, capace di dodici pallini è posto sotto la canna, ed il simulacro di bacchetta serve da pressore e da tappo, grazie ad una chiusura a baionetta.
The designers of Dongsan, to be able to withdraw enough the piston, created from scratch a four-gear gearbox that multiplies and transfers the rotation of the hammer. A separate mechanism, operated by frizzen, carry a BB at a time in the chamber. The underbarrel BB tube magazine it is capable of twelve shots, and the rod it serves as a pressure wand and cap, thanks to a bayonet restraint.
As in other products in the same house, the mechanisms are in metal, while the shells of the gearbox, the piston and cylinder are made of clear plastic (a rule of thumb, polycarbonate). I seemed the thicknesses generous, as an indication of a robust construction.
La inner barrel è in metallo bianco, e misurata alla bocca mi fornisce un diametro di 6,3 mm. Un fermo in plastica trasparente la rende solidale alla canna esterna.
The inner barrel is made by white metal, as measured at the muzzle it provides me with a diameter of 6.3 mm. A transparent plastic catch makes it integral with the outer barrel.
Ho parlato della possibilità che il gearbox perda la sua sincronia, ed in particolare che l’interazione fra cane e batteria si interrompa. Mi è accaduto durante lo smontaggio, necessario per scrivere queste righe, ma mai durante le prove di tiro od in bianco.
Il manuale indica due modi per rimediare, ed io ho impiegato il secondo, che consiste nel chiudere la batteria sullo scodellino, rimuovere il cane, e ruotare in senso orario il suo perno interno con un cacciavite sino all’arresto. La manovra è semplice, e l’unica avvertenza è di badare ad una molla posta alla base del cane stesso, e che può essere smarrita.
I talked about the possibility that the gearbox loses its synchrony, and in particular that the interaction between hammer and frizzen will stop. It happened to me during disassembly, needed to write these lines, but never during the shooting tests. The manual indicates two ways to fix it, and I used the second, which is to close the frizzen, remove the hammer, and rotate clockwise its pin with a screwdriver until it stops. The maneuver is simple, the only caveat is to look after a spring that is at the base of the hammer itself, and may be lost.
Come funziona? - How it works?
Partiamo dal rifornimento di pallini.
La bacchetta, come ho scritto, è fermata nel suo alloggiamento da un piccolo innesto a baionetta. Per rimuoverla occorre ruotarla in senso antiorario e quindi estrarla.
Si può quindi accedere al serbatoio tubolare, che contiene dodici BB, e rifornirlo. Noblesse oblige, sarebbe il caso di accentuare il realismo inserendo ogni volta un solo BB.
Una volta effettuato il rifornimento, si reinserisce la bacchetta, tenendo in posizione la molla con un dito per favorirne la corretta posizione.
We start with the BB filling. The rod, as I wrote, it is stopped in its cradle by a small bayonet connection. To remove, turn it counterclockwise and then pull it out. You can then access to the magazine tube, which contains twelve BB, and filling.
Noblesse oblige, would it be to accentuate the realism by loading every time just one BB. Once refilled, it must be re-inserted the rod, taking in place the spring with a finger to assist in reaching the proper position.
A questo punto, si arma il cane ruotandolo all’indietro.
La rotazione del cane fa arretrare il pistone, sino ad impegnare il fermo di tiro.
Per portare un pallino in canna, occorre ruotare verso l’indietro la batteria. A fine corsa, uno scatto ci confermerà che il pallino è stato camerato.
Premendo il grilletto, il cane ruota in avanti e, come accadeva nella realtà, colpisce la batteria, facendola ruotare in avanti. Nel meccanismo interno, ovviamente, viene rilasciato il pistone, e sparato il pallino.
Nelle prove di tiro che ho effettuato, sia l’alimentazione che il tiro sono avvenuti sempre regolarmente.
At this point, the hammer it cocked by turning it back. The hammer back the piston, until it commit the catch. To take a bullet in the barrel, turn towards back the frizzen. Ending its run, a click will confirm that the bullet it was chambered.
Pulling the trigger, the hammer rotates forward and, as it was in reality, affects the frizzen, turning it forward. In the internal mechanism, of course, the piston is released, and shot the ball. In shooting tests I made, feeding and shooting occurred more regularly.
Una nota importante: questa replica non ha alcun dispositivo di sicurezza, ed una volta armato il cane, non è possibile abbatterlo senza rilasciare il pistone, e quindi sparare l’eventuale pallino.
In altri termini, quando la replica è preparata per il tiro, la pressione sul grilletto causa sempre lo sparo.
An important note: This replica does not have any safety device, and once cocked the hammer, it could not be decocked without releasing the piston, and then shoot any ball. In other words, when the replica is prepared to shoot, the pressure on the trigger led always to the shot.
Per provare la Flintlock di KTW, ho dovuto mettere da parte molto di quel che conosco sull’uso delle pistole moderne, siano armi vere o repliche, e cercare di capire come si maneggiavano quelle di due secoli orsono.
To test the KTW flintlock, I had to put aside much of what I know about the use of modern handguns (being real or replicas), and try to understand how those were handled two centuries ago.
Impugnandola, sento il calcio conformarsi bene al palmo nella mano, ed il grilletto poggiarsi all’articolazione fra le prime falangi dell’indice.
La presa mi pare abbastanza salda, ma constato che tenendo la mano in posizione naturale, la pistola punta verso l’alto di una quarantina di gradi. Per allinearla al braccio, devo torcere verso il basso il polso in una posizione non del tutto naturale, che provoca fastidio alle dita strette attorno al calcio.
A quanto so, a parte il tiro a bruciapelo, all’epoca si usava “puntare il braccio” verso l’avversario, tenendo l’arto in asse col torso per offrire minore bersaglio.
Gripping it, I feel the butt conform well to hand palm, and the trigger lean among the first phalanx articulation of the index finger. The grip seems to me solid enough, but I note that taking the hand in a natural position, the gun is pointing up to forty degrees. La potenza e la costanza non sono eccelse, ma questo ultimo fattore a mio avviso è legato anche al vigoroso movimento della canna durante il tiro, e quindi al disallineamenti col cronografo.

Questa replica non è la prima fra le ASG a funzionare per rotazione del cane: la UHC, ad esempio, ha in catalogo numerosi revolver con meccanismo analogo, ed altri ne produce la LS.
La Flintock di KTW se ne distingue per il soggetto, per la qualità generale del modello, e per l’avere colto un certo spirito legato alle armi ad avancarica, riproponendolo nel modo d’uso.

Tecnicamente, la replica ha quanto necessario per essere impiegata su un campo di gioco, ovviamente in un contesto e con regole adatte. Se mai la Dongsan vorrà affiancarle anche un fucile ad acciarino, potrebbe essere veramente il momento perché qualcosa di nuovo appaia nel mondo dell’airsoft, un qualcosa che io battezzerei air (very) soft, e dove il fattore prevalente non siano potenza e alta cadenza di tiro.
First of all, there are no other replicas that are inspired by this historical period. Technically, the replica has what is necessary to be used on a playing field, obviously in a context with appropriate rules. If ever Dongsan also want to introduce a flintlock rifle, it could be really time for something new to appear in airsoft world, something that I baptize air (very) soft, and where the overriding factor is not shooting power, or high cadence.
L’impiego per tiro di divertimento ci sta, e magari anche quello per competizioni con qualche pariclasse (ma al momento non ne esistono); si torna sempre a ritroso nel tempo, magari a distanze e con bersagli adatti.
The use for plinking it has a place too, and maybe for competitions with similar ASG (but not currently existing); it always returns back in time, even at distances and suitable targets.
Dal punto di vista collezionistico, è senza ombra di dubbio un soggetto interessante, non banale, bene costruito, e fa rivivere un pezzo di Storia con la maiuscola.
In terms of collectors, it is without doubt an interesting topic, not trivial, well built, and relive a piece of History with a capital first letter.
Infine, anche i reenactors potrebbero avvalersene, e non sfigurerebbe fra le mani di qualche gentiluomo in tabarro e merletti…
