The media could not be loaded.It’s hard to find skate covers, and these are good ones. Many are thin and tear easily, or are small and barely fit. (If you have men’s sizes, you can hardly find covers at all. Men’s sizes are badly needed.) We keep skate covers over our boots to protect the boots and laces from dirt and scratches. These boot covers are made with a good quality of velvet that should be durable. They are a pretty, deep red and fit our women’s skates (Jackson 7.5 W) well with a little room to spare. My only complaint is that they smell. It is a mild to moderate garlicky/mildew smell, but there are no signs of stains or spots. The fabric is in great condition. I machine washed with cold water and hung dry before trying them on. This odor endures. I am now going to try washing with warm water, and maybe soaking, to get the smell out. These are 5 STAR skate covers, but the smell is not good. I knocked off a star, assuming I can get the smell out. If the smell doesn’t come out, I will have to see how they smell after getting wet on the ice. Maybe it will fade. I will report back and change my review if this is fixable. GREAT covers, otherwise! I would buy more and in other colors.Update: I washed these covers again, and the smell is mostly gone. I took a chance and washed them with Persil, oxiclean, and hot water. I would buy these again. They are durable for sure. They did not draw up in the wash, either. [...]
