12/13FT Tenkara Rod Kit 30T Carbon Fiber Telescopic Fly Fishing Rod Combo with Furled Line Flies

First of all, the delivery on this rod was very difficult and had a 5-day delay. Normally, I wouldn’t mention it because the delivery was supposedly by Amazon, but Amazon support completely blamed the delay on the manufacturer/seller, so it does actually have relevance (apparently) to a review of the item.FYI, I’m not a Tenkara rod expert with a collection of really high end rods. I have two Tenkara rods that are probably considered mid-level (I think they’re excellent though) with those being the DragonTail ShadowFire 365 and the DragonTail Hellbender. I then also have two 3x zoom rods that are considered to be in the same category (discount, entry level) as this Angler Dream rod (although I feel they’re much better rods than this one) with those being the shorter and longer MaxCatch 3x Zoom Tenkara rods. So, much of my opinion on the review on this rod is directly comparing this rod to these other rods I own, but especially the MaxCatch rods. This is actually a pretty nice Tenkara rod. It is definitely a very beefy rod, and along with the 7:3 action it seems rather stiff — more than other 7:3 rods I own or have used. Each section (with the exception of the topmost) is rather thick, and when extended out to its full length the sections are very obvious (jagged) without the smooth transition between sections that I’m used to with almost all other Tenkara rods I’ve owned/used. This is especially visible when the rod is flexing like when trying to land a fish. It’s still flexible and wiggly enough that it can be used for true Tenkara fishing, but I suspect this rod is also strong/stiff enough to almost be used as Keiryu rod with heavier line, tackle, bait, etc. It’s a little heavy at 4.2 oz, as most 13′ rods (even 2-3x zoom rods) are more down in the mid-3 oz range. Still, it has a very nice gourd shaped cork handle/grip that is rather long, so it results in less fatigue from longer use, even with the rod being rather heavy. The cork is good, but not great quality, and is kind of dusty/chalky. I’m sure with use that will go away, but it may very well be at the cost of the first layer of cork.Overall, this seems like a good to very good Tenkara rod, but I personally do not feel it offers enough for me to keep it when I have the DragonTail Hellbender (also 13′) and the MaxCatch 3x zoom rod (which extends to 12’9″). Both of these rods (especially the DragonTail) are much better rods that each offer better features, specs, fishability, etc. So, this is a very good rod as an only rod or maybe an only big rod, but if you have other rods the same size, those rods will likely be better. If all you have are shorter rods, then this would be a good longer, stiffer rod to get for occasional use without being expensive. Full disclosure, I ended up returning it because my other similar sized rods are superior.I’ve included several labeled photos that show the rod/accessories weight, etc.
